Original artwork description
Kyoto, Japan. The Sanjusangendo temple contains 1000 life-size statues of the thousand armed Kannon standing around the main deity and the 28 statues of guardians.
Of these 28 statues, I only kept the drawing of the faces with all different expressions
Then I cut them into several parts and mixed all the pieces. After that, I reconstructed faces concerned only by the balance of compositions, the harmony of forms and colors.
Thus there is no more symmetry and there are several expressions on the same face, The eye, of the watcher is surprised and destabilized strolls in the painting from mouth to eye or nose to cheek.
