Original artwork description
Original and offbeat sculpture made from the natural wood of a tree root.
It is part of the Ostréïdes series, which expresses the complexity of life in its search for a form best suited to survival, as well as the wisdom of the spirit applied to the transformation of matter, the Ostréïdes being imaginary metamorphic beings who have come from elsewhere to take refuge in earthly materials and try to adapt.
Unfinished, it expresses the evolution of humanity through femininity, with its wild, ethnic side taking us back to a prehistory already imbued with humanity's own aesthetic and spiritual roots.
While the root wood used to create the curves was carved with a gouge, the face and light-colored parts of the body were worked with surfine wood pulp, then tinted with acrylic and varnished.
