Original artwork description
Row of river trees
Lavender,
Pale yellow,
Hint of blue,
In the sky,
The river trees,
Graceful,
Coppers,
Bronze,
Dusky pinks,
Earthy browns and greens.
Words and feelings of colours .
I experienced this scene the other day walking through a field near the River Stour in North Dorset. The row of river trees lit up in the sunshine that Sunday afternoon and it just was perfect as the field system was a perfect horizontal line. The trees created a wonderful colour contrast against the atmospheric light behind and a subtle hint of ‘Hambledon hill’ in the backdrop.
I used a wet in wet technique for the layers of back washes using a three colour technique. Then for the detail of the trees dragged the paint from the horizontal line upwards to get an exspressive natural effect of the tree shapes .This took time very gradual and many shades were used.

Rough textured watercolour paper-Bockingford acid free,Chinese bamboo brushes, watercolour paints Holbein, water,
