Original artwork description
My inspiration for this piece came from staying in the Pantanal. I saw the most amazing Blue Macaw in its natural habitat & it was simply stunning! I wanted to bring Brazil to life in my painting.
I have a passion for painting flora & fauna, particularly palms. I love the exotic look of this piece, with the mist created by spray paints, looking like a tropical forest, with contrast of the detail in the parrot.
I love to mix contemporary & fine art. I like the way metallic spray paint falls onto the canvas. I created layers & layers of spray paint & acrylic palm leaves.
I also scratched into the paint of the parrot with a scalpel to create texture in the feathers.
