This painting was started last year in an ancient pasture woodland in the New Forest. The wood is called Ridley Wood and is not far from the village of Burley. There are many fine trees in this wood but the one I choose to paint was a leaning beech tree. It is not the first time I have painted this tree. In the right light this tree glows with colour, green mosses, light blue lichens and dark slate bark. It also surrounds the rooting pigs beneath the branches. The frame is a dark classic gold with a light slip which complement the painting.
