Original artwork description:

This work was created in the artist's studio in St Leonard's on Sea, surrounded by the sound of trees in the birches and birdsong.  The calm and peace of the environment set the tone for this abstract oil painting.  One motif that seems to always run through Swaby's work is this white nebular form which (she says) symbolises the dreamlike quality of human existence and the wonder of the supernatural. 



Her recent body of work incorporates pink as the ground, which points to states of joy. This painting is a statement piece, one of calm but also change. It resists being defined by any one element and allows free form to all the components.  The elements of negative space give rest to the eye and allow the expansion of the deconstructed landscape.
