Red Cardinal in Snow (2026) Original Oil Painting by Natalia Shaykina

This original artwork shows a bright red cardinal perched on a snow-covered pine branch in a quiet winter setting. The vivid red feathers stand out beautifully against the soft white snow, green pine needles and cool winter background, creating a striking bird portrait full of colour, contrast and seasonal charm.

This 18 x 24 cm piece would work beautifully as cardinal wall art for a bedroom, hallway, living room, cottage interior, winter home decor or Christmas-inspired space. It is especially suitable for someone who loves red cardinals, bird art, winter birds, wildlife art, nature decor and original animal artwork with a calm seasonal mood.

I painted this piece because the red cardinal brings such a powerful visual accent to a winter landscape. Against the snow, the bird feels warm, vivid and full of life. The simple composition keeps the focus on the cardinal’s bright colour, alert pose and quiet beauty.

Created with high-quality professional European oil paints on premium stretched linen canvas with gallery-wrap edges, the artwork has visible texture, layered brushwork and a refined hand-painted surface. The oil technique allows the feathers, snow, pine branch and soft winter background to reveal subtle colour variations and delicate detail when seen in person.

Colours may slightly vary due to screen differences. In person, the colours reveal even more subtle nuances and depth.
