Radiance on the Shore is a monotype where I wanted to capture the fleeting glow of sunset along the shoreline. Layering translucent colors and experimenting with expressive mark-making, I aim to evoke the way light shifts across wet sand and water. This piece was a challenge, as I worked to balance the reflections of sea, sand, and sky while keeping a sense of movement and atmosphere. The result, I hope, conveys the quiet radiance of the coast at dusk—a moment of warmth, light, and tranquility.

A monotype is a one-off hand-made print, just as unique as a painting. I used rollers and dabbers to spread out ink on a smooth plastic board then made marks with a cloth and other tools. The ink was transferred to the paper using a hand-operated printing press. I built up layers of over-lapping colous by printing several times.

The paper is 70.5 x 35cm with a working margin to be covered with a window mount. The viewable image will then be 69 x 34cm

Supplied unframed, rolled in a wide, strong tube.

Materials used:

Oil-based artist quality ink on Rives BFK cotton rag paper
