Prelude to the Sun captures the fleeting moment before sunrise, when the first light begins to breathe colour into the horizon. The artist layers deep marine blues and cool teal tones beneath a radiant sky of amber and burnt gold, creating a harmonious balance between calm and intensity.
Thick, textured applications of oil convey the rhythm of the sea and the movement of air, while luminous reflections in the foreground suggest the quiet anticipation of dawn.
