The picture was painted at the beginning of Russia's full-scale brutal war against Ukraine in the spring of 2022. Leaving Kyiv, fleeing the war, we passed checkpoints, where even old grandfathers, powerful in spirit and strength, took up arms, defending our country, and stood guard at checkpoints along the entire road.
