portrait study in red 2-4-26 is a small-scale portrait study on canvas that challenges contemporary ideals of beauty through deliberate imperfection.

Working with a predominantly muted palette punctuated by moments of vibrant color, he builds up the surface using areas of flat colour contrasting against areas where paint has been stained and scraped back to reveal the canvas beneath. The resulting uneven textures and irregular blotches of pigment create a visual language of flaws—an intentional counterpoint to the endless stream of digitally manipulated, a perfection we encounter daily.

This work explores beauty that exists outside conventional standards: awkward, imperfect, and honest. The physical reality of the paint—its weight, its gaps, its accidents—becomes a form of resistance against the immaterial smoothness of filtered images.
