Portrait of a bearded man with a burning ear
retaken now, Jun 2025
I enjoyed a lot doing this little study/experiment.
I started working with this kind of portrait more recently — where the image gets interrupted, broken, layered with aggressive marks or color. Not to destroy it, but to shift the focus.
It’s about contrast: between a painted, recognizable face and something more raw, uncertain. I’m interested in what happens when a portrait stops being about likeness and becomes something else — more emotional, more instinctive.
materials used:
- oil and acrylic
- varnish
- gallery-wrapped frame, staple-free edges
- it is ready to hang or you can frame it, as you wish
- the colours may look different on other devices/ screens
- custom charges vary in each country outside Europe and are not included in the price of the artwork
please send me a message if you are interested in limited edition print only

small format, portrait, man, beard, young man, figure study, raw energy, deconstruction, instinctive, contrast
