This work is a hybrid of painting and relief sculpture, formed from offcuts of wood, some geometric and some organic in shape. Each work develops through an extended process of layering, readjustment, and repainting, gradually arriving at a state of formal coherence or equilibrium. I am interested in how the viewer’s eye navigates a composition, and in the visual rhythms generated through repetition, colour interaction, and figure–ground relationships.
