Original artwork description
“Pittura da Bere” (Painting to Drink) is a mixed-media work on canvas that stages a direct dialogue between consumption, painting, and performative gesture. Its visual core isolates and enlarges the letters “a” and “C” from the Coca-Cola logo, transforming them into raw, dark, heavily textured painterly forms. This macro-typographic fragmentation strips the brand of its commercial function, presenting it as pure graphic matter, while preserving a tension between industrial precision and manual intervention.
The oversized passe-partout becomes an active field: a charged void that amplifies the fragment, exhibiting it as a contemporary relic. The clean frame sharply contrasts with the density of the painted surface.
The title introduces a decisive rupture: to “drink” the painting suggests a physical, almost ritual experience, collapsing the distance between viewer and artwork, and questioning authenticity in an age of mass reproduction.
Slasky (b. 1972, Italy) is a self-taught artist working from Artena, Rome. His practice emerged from outside
the institutional art system — a background in manual labour that informs both the materiality of his work and
the precision of its conceptual framework. Active since 2015, he has built an independent market presence
across Europe and Asia before undertaking a decisive shift toward institutional research practice.
Selected Exhibitions (2015 — 2026)
Institutional highlight: Long Live Rembrandt, Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, 2026. Work selected by the museum
jury from thousands of international submissions for exhibition within the museum's permanent collection
spaces. 15 July — 15 September 2019.
