Original artwork description
PIAF LA TROUILLE is a unique and amusing little sculpture of a bird that is... scared!
With its head buried in its wings, this imaginary young red bird looks at the world with concern, a world filled with terrifying legends of predators lying in wait, worthy of appearing in the delirious universe of Tim Burton...
It is made from badam wood, the fruit of a tree called the "sea almond tree", which is a tropical tree found in South-East Asia, and from finely modelled wood cellulose, which is then painted and varnished. Unusually, its tail is made from a dried urn of a carnivorous plant called nepenthes. Its eyes are made from blown glass.
This work is part of the Ostreides series, which aims to breathe new life and soul into abandoned or dried natural wood materials.
Signed piece.
