Original artwork description
PEGASUS (diptiche)
MARVELOUS REALISM
I have found myself relating with the term “Paradise”, from an idealist’s representation of “Paradise” to an everyday perception of smaller “paradises” of my heroes and their dreams.
Colourful flowers, tropical gardens, fabrics of flamenco dancers, andalucian horses, magic , spices…Culture of Andalucia is a mixture of Iberic, Roman, Visigoth, Arabic and Spanish roots. An honest translation of “Paradise”.
The style that I paint this series can be called Marvellous Realism, I combine figurative painting with decorative elements, with ornaments. Each painting is a combination of life and artifacts, a real girl silhouette and Moroccan décor or tile, real flowers and plants and decorative ornament on fabrics, or tropical garden surrounding a fantasy horse. My marvellous realism It is not a fantasy, it is not a fiction, it is combination of a very original figurative and magical decorative context all together.
Pegasus was a mythical horse of the ancient world, why not to paint it here?
