Artwork description
Pattern and colour have always played an important part in my work. I love the almost mesmeric power a pattern can induce and the idea that the symbols within the patterns have hidden meanings turns the whole piece into something much more significant than solely a piece of decorative art. And as with the importance of the symbols, the colours are also carefully chosen as my way to impart certain emotions in the piece.
I have used many different blocks to create this linocut print. This is Part II in my Suzani inspired series and it will be a very limited edition of only 15. Each one will be unique as I will continue to experiment with symbols and colours.
Please be aware that as I hand print each piece that there are textural anomalies which are due to the method I use when printing the blocks. I love these marks, they are proof of the handmade quality of the craft!
