Parliament Hill 3 (2026) Original Drawing by Steve Potts

19 x 13cm (unframed) / 17.5 x 11.6cm (actual image size)

One of a series of drawings made on Parliament Hill, this piece tries to captures the characteristic openness and gentle drama of the Heath at its highest point. What draws me is the particular quality of openness you get here, the way the Heath falls away and Highgate arranges itself quietly on the horizon. I use tools that don't always do what I intend, and in this piece the marks describing the footpaths in the foreground became an abstract feature for the series.

pencil, oil pastel
