Parallel Ground is an original large-scale abstract diptych created in 2026. Composed of two one-of-a-kind acrylic paintings, each measuring 120 × 90 cm, the work explores the relationship between structure, movement, reflection, and the subtle tension between warm and cool neutral tones.

While creating this diptych, I wanted the two canvases to feel connected without becoming mirror images of one another. They share a common visual rhythm, but each develops its own character. Strong vertical elements intersect broad horizontal passages, while softer textured areas seem to dissolve around them. Together, the two paintings create a conversation between stability and movement, precision and spontaneity.

I built the surfaces gradually through multiple layers of professional acrylic paint. Using palette knives, brushes, scraping, glazing, dry-brush techniques, and expressive mark-making, I repeatedly added, removed, and revealed paint. Earlier layers remain partially visible beneath the surface, creating tactile depth and subtle variations that become more noticeable as the surrounding light changes.

The palette combines warm beige, sand, taupe, soft mocha brown, ivory white, greige, stone grey, charcoal, and black. One canvas carries warmer earthy tones, while the other introduces cooler grey passages, creating a sophisticated tonal contrast across the diptych. White and ivory areas bring luminosity and breathing space, while darker linear marks provide structure and visual rhythm.

Although entirely abstract, Parallel Ground may evoke fragments of contemporary architecture, reflections on water, weathered surfaces, distant landscapes, or structural forms reduced to their essential lines. I intentionally leave these associations open. Rather than defining a specific place, I want the paintings to create an atmosphere that allows the viewer to form a personal connection with the work.

The two canvases were conceived as a unified composition while remaining strong individual paintings. Displayed side by side, they create an impressive panoramic presence of approximately 180 × 120 cm before spacing. Their generous scale makes the diptych particularly effective as statement wall art for spacious living rooms, dining areas, entrance halls, bedrooms, executive offices, boutique hotels, reception spaces, and contemporary residences.

The restrained neutral palette makes Parallel Ground especially suitable for Japandi, Organic Modern, Minimalist, Wabi-Sabi, Scandinavian, Modern Classic, and Contemporary Luxury interiors.

For me, Parallel Ground is about two independent structures finding a common rhythm — different surfaces and directions connected by an invisible visual line.
