Hedwig is the owl of Harry Potter that was given to him by Rubeus Hagrid for his eleventh birthday. Harry named it after a name he found in his history of magic.
Harry cares a lot about her, but sometimes he prefers to use an owl loaned by the school to send his mail, because Hedwige’s plumage is too obvious.
It is certainly an owl living in the Hogwarts Aviary.
