Original artwork description
I created three watercolour paintings of different shapes, each one lighter than the first, with gold ink and a little acrylic.
Each of the three dimensional butterflies is punch-cut from the watercolour paintings and decoratively arranged in changing colours to form the word LOVE in the centre of the frame.
They are attached to heavy aqua card and framed within a white glazed deep box frame.
The result is a vibrant and colourful modern relief design revealing individual butterflies on closer inspection, with different shadows cast from the up-turned wings depending on the direction of the light.
