Original artwork description:

Painted en plein air during Carmel Art Festival. En plein air is a French expression which means “in the open air”, and is used to describe the act of painting outdoors to capture the light and colors particular to a location.

I paint this old San Giovanni fishing boat at the Monterey Fisherman's Wharf almost every time I go to Monterey on a painting trip. I love the shape of the boat against the pier, and love watching it in different light in different seasons. The San Giovanni has been at home port in Monterey harbor for almost 60 years and the boat has become a piece of history in the community.

Materials used to create this artwork:
Oil on oil-primed Claessens Belgian linen on 1/16" MDF archival art panel, finished with melamine backing that prevents warping and deterioration.
The painting surface is protected with a coat of Gamvar varnish.
The painting is unframed and will need a frame to hang on the wall. It will easily fit in a standard (US) 12"x16" frame.

Kindly note that not all in-context (in a room) pictures provide a true sense of scale of artwork. Please refer to listing size.
