Original artwork description
This diptych from my Oceanic Geometry series explores the meeting point between architectural structure and the fluid movement of coastal atmosphere. I wanted these two paintings to feel interconnected — like shifting tides crossing through geometric space, where movement and stillness exist simultaneously.
Created in acrylic on canvas, each composition was developed through multiple textured layers using palette knife, expressive brushwork, scraping techniques, and spontaneous linear gestures. Shades of pale blue, soft gray, ivory, white, taupe, charcoal, black, earthy brown, and warm ochre create depth, contrast, and rhythm while preserving a refined contemporary atmosphere.
The vertical compositions interact as a unified statement piece. Intersecting lines, layered textures, reflective passages, and contrasting dark forms create architectural tension softened by atmospheric openness. Pale blue and ivory tones introduce lightness and spaciousness, while charcoal and black areas ground the compositions visually. Warm ochre accents add subtle warmth and luminous contrast throughout both canvases.
I wanted this diptych to feel immersive and expansive — a contemporary interpretation of elemental movement translated through geometry and texture. Layered surfaces, scraped passages, expressive marks, and painterly transitions preserve the spontaneity of the creative process while adding richness and visual movement across both works.
The textured surfaces respond beautifully to natural and artificial light, revealing nuanced tones of pale blue, ivory, charcoal, taupe, earthy brown, black, and warm ochre throughout the day.
This large contemporary abstract diptych is designed as statement wall art for modern interiors and works beautifully above a sofa, in living rooms, offices, hotel interiors, entryways, or contemporary architectural spaces. Its elegant vertical format and sophisticated neutral palette make it ideal for minimalist, Scandinavian, Japandi, modern, or luxury interiors.
For me, this series is about the geometry hidden within natural movement — the invisible structures that connect atmosphere, reflection, and space.
