Original artwork description:

This medium sized acrylic painting on stretched canvas features a reclining female nude. It was painted in a life room environment with a live model. I have used colours which are both complementary and dynamic. I have simplified the composition but it retains detail such as the clenched hand in the foreground. This over simplification of form and line teamed with careful drawing of line and perspective in one area of the painting is one way of achieving distorted forms which in foreshortened poses like this can add interest. Many of the great masters adopted this technique. For example Matisse with his cutaway sail artwork.
