In this nude, I'm pushing further from realistic representation of the figure. She's no longer a portrait of any particular woman but an archetype - a form that carries the memory of ancient sculpture without imitating it directly. There's something primal in these curves - they don't obey academic conventions but follow their own, more ancient logic. The flesh isn't smooth and idealized; it's textured like terra cotta that has survived centuries. I wanted the surface to feel inhabited by its own history, so the paint application was crucial. I needed to see how layers accumulate and obscure each other. It's the imperfection that speaks to authenticity.
