Nostalgia for the WaterOil painting

The painting invites immersion in the graphic elegance of nature. The emphasis lies in the tensions between the different rhythms of natural elements in the foreground, the middle ground, and the background. The effect of this play between different planes, colours, and textures in the painting emphasises its layerdness. For a painter these layers and textures can only become visible by means of close observation, and looking ‘beyond’ the elements in nature, a process embodied in the paintings in which every brushstroke forms a meaningful entity in the emerging whole.
