North Dorset ridge sunset
Salmon pink, peach, yellow and earthy purples in the sky,
Looking beyond from one ridge to the next,
Feeling so special to be here,
Nature is silent,
An uplifting moment in the winter landscape.

Words and thoughts of a local nature reserve on the high tops of the North Dorset chalk hills “Fontmell Down”.
Original impressionist watercolour on rough textured watercolour paper bockingford 425 gsm 200 lb. A wonderful ancient landscape from the North Dorset hills looking across to the Wessex ridge. I use a three colour technique and wet on wet washes applying the sky shades by dropping the pigments onto the wet paper. A lot of depth of colour was gradually pressed and dropped onto the foreground for the silhouette of the landscape.
