In contemporary Western cultures, life unfolds at a rapid, anthropocentric pace. We rarely pause to imagine ourselves as part of a larger, interdependent world. Yet only a few centuries ago, and still today within some Indigenous traditions, humans lived in much closer spiritual dialogue with the non-human — with animals, landscapes, and unseen forces regarded as messengers, guides, or divine presences.

My painting revisits this older way of sensing reality and is intentionally open for interpretation. The bird-like beings can be read as forgotten deities, ancestral spirits, or simply the overwhelming forces that inhabit the imaginal realm — our inner judges, heavy thoughts, or revelations that rise “over human.
