It had been a long time since I last worked with pastel. I wanted to return to it, to recall the feeling — the gentle touch of a stick against paper, so different from a firm brush on a rigid canvas. Perhaps that is why the images that emerge feel softer, more contemplative, and carry a distinct, quiet character.
