Original artwork description:

Ink, acrylic and gouache paint on fine birch ply. Fine strips cut and reassembled into a 3D collage.

This large-scale colour study comprising of eighteen individually painted beechwood panels intersected to make nine striped blocks assembled into this basketweave composition.

The paint is carefully blended to a fine enough consistency that it soaks into the birch ply surface leaving the sheen and texture of the wood grain to show through the colour. The stripes are kept in order so the movement of the woodgrain follows one to the next creating a soft movement through the artwork.
