Artwork description
I heard a blackbird singing its heart out in the dark on a cold winter's night. Why was he singing in amongst the concrete in a London tree? Probably making his presence felt at the end of the day. It certainly brightened my journey home and inspired this print.
The print is a reduction linocut a relief printing technique where multiple colors are printed from a single block, which is progressively carved away ("reduced") between each color application. Often called "suicide printing" because the block is destroyed in the process, it requires printing the entire edition (all prints) in one go, usually moving from light to dark colors.
Materials used:
Oil based ink and archival paper
Details:
- Linocut on Paper
- From a limited edition of 30
- Size: 20 x 20cm / 15 x 15cm (actual image size)
- Signed and numbered on the front
- Style: Organic
- Subject: Animals and birds
