Self-portraiture offers a unique freedom for expression - knowing yourself more intimately than any external subject allows you to explore radically different emotional states through bold formal choices: unexpected colors, unconventional angles, daring compositional risks you might hesitate to take with another person.
In this work, I wanted to capture what appears to be an accidental moment - a state of anxiety and uncertainty, using sharply contrasting colors. The acidic greens clash violently against deep browns and blacks, creating visual agitation that mirrors internal turmoil. The figure barely emerges from the surrounding darkness, as if struggling to maintain form against forces pulling it apart - a metaphor for the state, where existence itself feel precarious.
