Newhaven Cliffs 2 (2025)Oil painting by Joanna Farrow

This is one of two paintings that I completed last summer, inspired by the cliffs on the south coast at Newhaven. I love the imposing form of cliffs when viewed from the beach. With these two paintings I have used thin oils so that I could move them around on the canvas, almost giving the feel of watercolour paints and keeping the brushwork very loose. Framed in a white painted, wood frame with a small shadow gap between the canvas and frame.
