The first time I set foot in San Sebastian, I tried to imagine a place here for the joyful journey. But nothing felt like this was the perfect location for it. I fell in love with the place, and the idea of setting out one of my joyful journey artworks in San Sebastian, Donostia, started to grow on me. The promenade along the Concha beach, with the Belle-époque lampposts, was exactly where I wanted to set the artwork celebrating New beginnings in San Sebastián. A place instantly recognisable and a symbol of the city.

It is still early in the morning on Easter Monday; the sky is still very low, with fog mounting over the sea. She’s there, ready to make this moment very special. She chooses San Sebastián as the place where she will start again, move on from the past, and embrace who she is. She made herself the promise to walk along the Atlantic Ocean and let her hair loose. This is her moment

Each artwork in this series features a different European city: Paris, Florence, Strasbourg, Venice, Amsterdam, London, Prague, Berlin, San Sebastián, highlighting the unique opportunity each destination offers.
