Title: Naked Truth / Innocent Lie II (Diptych)

Materials: oil on 300 gsm paper

Naked Truth / Innocent Lie II continues the exploration of vulnerability, honesty, and self-deception within the Comfort Zone series. As the second diptych in the cycle, it revisits the dialogue between truth and illusion, examining how people navigate the emotional space between what is real and what feels safe.

The two works function as complementary reflections. Naked Truth II addresses the experience of emotional exposure — a moment when certainty dissolves and personal defenses no longer provide shelter. The figure appears suspended between strength and fragility, confronting the discomfort of authenticity.

Innocent Lie II explores the opposite movement: the subtle ways in which reality is softened to preserve emotional stability. Here, deception is not presented as manipulation but as a coping mechanism, a quiet attempt to maintain balance when truth becomes difficult to bear.

Presented through fragmented figurative forms, the diptych shifts attention away from individual identity and toward universal emotional experience. The absence of facial features allows gesture, posture, and body language to become the primary narrative elements. Physical form becomes a vehicle for psychological tension.

A restrained palette of deep black, dark umber, warm brown, muted gold, and soft bronze creates visual continuity between the two works. Contrasts of light and shadow reinforce their conceptual relationship: one image reveals, the other conceals.

Within the Comfort Zone series, the diptych raises questions about the role of truth in human relationships and self-perception. Is complete honesty always liberating? Can a harmless illusion become a form of emotional protection? And where does the boundary lie between self-preservation and self-deception?
