Original artwork description
In My Hopes and My Illusions, three women occupy a quiet suspended moment shaped by tenderness, tension, and ambiguity.
Executed in soft monochrome blue tones with subtle pastel touches of pink, yellow, and pale blue, the artwork creates a melancholic atmosphere where emotion takes precedence over narrative certainty.
The restrained palette and luminous pastel atmosphere create a suspended emotional state, somewhere between dream and recollection.
One figure gently closes the eyes of another using pink gloves, while a third woman observes from a distance, arms crossed. This simple gesture opens many possible readings: care or control, protection or denial, connection or emotional separation.
The gesture of covering the eyes becomes intentionally ambiguous. It may suggest tenderness, guidance, denial, protection, censorship, trust, or lack of understanding. The observer in the background reinforces this uncertainty: witness, judge, future self, mother figure, or detached consciousness.
The painting explores themes of generational dialogue, inner identity, memory, silence, commincational biais, and the fragile line between what we choose to see and what we refuse to confront.
