In creating this painting, I sought to capture the serene juxtaposition of nature's enduring splendor with human innovation. Leveraging the soft, fluid strokes characteristic of impressionism against the precise detail of realism, I highlighted the majestic rock formation standing resiliently against the tranquil sea, contrasted by the sleek modernity of yachts. This visual dialogue evokes a sense of peaceful coexistence between man-made achievements and the natural world, inviting viewers to reflect on this balance in their own surroundings. The calming palette and gentle light infuse any space with quiet contemplation and a breath of fresh, sea-inspired air. Traveling to Ischia Island in Italy, I painted from plain-air a small sketch in a rock called a mushroom, which was formed from a volcanic eruption, and the lava froze in a bizarre mushroom shape. He painted the picture in a workshop for etude.
