I painted this southern city as a space of endless staircases. They intertwine, rise one above another, and lead the eye upward—toward the light. The stairways set the rhythm of the entire composition, connecting the houses and creating a sense of movement.

The highlights are the breath of the sun on the walls. They break across the facades, flashing in ochre, white, and cool blue glimmers. I applied them thickly, almost like a mosaic, so the light would feel alive and pulsing, as if the city itself were shimmering under the hot southern sky.
