Biography
My work is driven by the desire to capture and represent the world around me through landscapes and portraits. Family, friends, travelling, skateboarding, nature, light and the man-made world all inspire and influence me. I like to discover and explore nature and culture in different parts of the world and take great inspiration from happy, creative and positive people with a “let’s do it” attitude, because life is short and we should try to enjoy it.
My drawing and painting style is somewhere between realistic and impressionistic and I try to capture the size, weight, feeling, emotion and experience of each subject.
I like to experiment and use many different materials and mediums depending on the situation and required result.
I enjoy working “en plein air” as this gives me a much closer relationship with the subject and I get to feel, experience and learn more about it than I do when just working from a photograph. The challenge of trying to capture things in ever-changing daylight can lead to unexpected results. I often use these works done from nature, photos and other references to create more detailed, larger works in my studio. My work is driven by the desire to capture and represent the world around me through landscapes and portraits.
