This painting was inspired by the dress worn by Miss Havisham in Charles Dickens’ ‘Great Expectations’. After being left at the altar many years before, she retreated to her gothic mansion & wore the dress every day for the rest of her life.
This artwork is made with oils and shredded lace applique on canvas. The strips of lace have been left to hang freely so that they move when caight by a breeze.
