In this piece, I aimed to capture the amber heat of a late summer sunset.
The firey cadmium orange and cerise glow, across the pink evening sky, is a striking palette.
The painting is slightly textured and catches the light, making the colours burst and glow.
My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the skies and sea - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal.
The cadmium and sable tones, are developed by layering and lifting the oil paint, to find previous hues and tones laid beneath, building depth, movement and highlights.
