Midnight Passage is a contemporary architectural painting from the Architecture of Memory series, exploring the way familiar urban spaces can become transformed by darkness, distance and memory.

A narrow passage leads through the composition, framed by dark architectural forms and fragments of warmly illuminated façades. The perspective draws the eye deeper into the scene, towards a space that remains partially hidden and unresolved.

Deep black tones are contrasted with warm ochre, terracotta and touches of light, creating the atmosphere of an old street after nightfall. Expressive brushwork, broken lines and areas of exposed dark canvas allow the architecture to emerge gradually from the surrounding darkness rather than being precisely defined.

The passage becomes more than a physical route through the city. It suggests the experience of returning mentally to a familiar place — remembering its direction, light and atmosphere while many of its details have already disappeared.
