Original artwork description
Mexico-historieta 1
Having travelled in all directions and several times, Mexico is the country - after France- that I know best. I liked to paint its streets of cities and villages, Those who do not know Mexico talk about its violence. Although there is but it is rather invisible to travelers who know how to appreciate the beauty of the landscapes, the charm of the cities, the richness of the historical sites.
I had fun adding this violence into my rather innocent images by borrowing the picturesque characters of cheap Mexican comics: the « historietas », small booklets sold in the stations and on the sidewalks. Acrylic on paper.
