Memory neurons (2025) Monoprint by Andrii Kovalenko

63 x 44 x 0.1cm (unframed)

£479.92

This work is part of the project Fragments of Memory, where I explore memory as an unstable and fragmented structure. I am interested not in representing memories themselves, but in the process of their transformation — how they emerge, deform, and gradually dissolve.

The composition is built on the tension between a dense, highly textured area and a more diffused, subdued space. This transition evokes the movement of an impulse within a neural network — from concentration to dispersion, from presence to disappearance.

Material plays a central role in this work. Layers, surface disruptions, and traces of gesture form a visual language in which memory appears not as an image, but as an imprint. Texture becomes a carrier of experience, while the process itself becomes a way of understanding it.

“Neurons of Memory” is an attempt to capture a state in which memory still retains its structure, yet is already in the process of losing its integrity.

About
I approach art as a meditative process, where the emergence of form is as important as the final result. My work is a dialogue between materials, textures, and surfaces, allowing... Read more
