Original artwork description
Born in Lisbon, Portugal, Claudia is a self-taught Artist who worked over two decades in the technology sector as an engineer, lived in England and travelled the world until she moved back to her roots in 2016, the countryside of Alentejo in Portugal, along with her son and husband.
In her remote home, surrounded by trees and endless rolling hills, time slows and the earth speaks, her paintings are an emotional connection between herself and the raw landscape of the region. She uses acrylic paint, pastels, charcoal and oil creating layers and textures on both canvas and paper, very often outdoors, she takes in the land’s rhythm and palette of the seasons to inspire her. Each piece is unique, a reimagined abstract landscape, a dialogue between nature and Artist, her mental and body health along with echoes of all her lived experiences.
