Painted on two 15 x 45 x 1.5 inch gallery-wrapped canvases, M’Ladies is a perfect example of Hunter’s uniquely expressive style -- which so often results in arresting images with a sense of depth and sculptural form.

This diptych is an abstract composition consisting of expressive vertical strokes of white paint on all-black backgrounds. The characters look at each other in a way that suggests close sisterhood. The strokes are typical of Hunter’s approach to this direction -- smooth white texture throughout the piece, with some areas showing heavier, more opaque applications of pigment, while others reveal more background.
