Malcesine is one of many beautiful towns and villages that line the shores of Lake Garda, Italy. The historic flair is emphasized by the landmark of the ruined castle that towers above the winding streets. It was this view that inspired me to set up my easel on a summer morning on the beach and capture the scene in watercolour. There were plenty of bathers and walkers on the promenade too to add a bit of life to the composition and bring us up to the present day. After the painting was completed, I rewarded myself with a swim in the inviting water and an ice-cream from Antoine's ice cream van.
"Malcesine, Lake Garda" was painted en plein air in northern Italy high quality watercolour paper using Windsor and Newton paints. It comes mounted in a warm white mount to fit a frame size of 30x40cm and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
