Original artwork description
Machair is a Gaelic word meaning fertile low lying grassy plain. It describes the rare and beautiful landscape which exists on the western coasts of North West Scotland and Ireland in early Summer.
We visited this area of Scotland in June a few years ago and the wildflowers by the coast were simply stunning. They thrive in the poor soil which consists mainly of sand and shells. Red clover, birds foot trefoil, yarrow, daisies to name a few. It was a sight to behold.
This painting is supplied flat in a white/cream mount all ready to frame. It will fit a 50cm x 50cm frame.
