Low Light Solo (2026) Original Mixed-media Painting by Victor Selin

58.42 x 73.66 x 5.08cm (framed)

£630.92

ow Light Solo is an 18 by 24 inch gold leaf artwork, framed to 22 by 28 inches with an acid-free mat and Tru Vue protective glazing.

A seated guitarist emerges from dense gold marks on a black ground. The figure, hat, jacket, hands, and instrument are built through reflected gold, while the surrounding darkness holds a second visual register: black-on-black writing and a hidden face that only become visible under certain light or from certain angles.

This is the first work in my practice to use that black-on-black register as an active part of the image. The piece changes as the viewer moves. From one angle, the gold musician dominates. From another, the darker field begins to speak, revealing another presence inside the composition.

The result is a low-light performance in two layers: one bright, one nearly concealed. The gold leaf carries the visible sound of the guitar, while the black-on-black surface holds the part that can only be discovered slowly.

A one-of-a-kind original. 18 by 24 inches unframed. 22 by 28 inches framed. Gold leaf on paper, acid-free mat, Tru Vue protective glazing.
