Artwork description
Lovebirds are known for forming strong and monogamous bonds, often sitting pressed together, they preen one another, and become visibly distressed when separated. Because of this lovebirds symbolise devotion, partnership, and emotional closeness. Each one of these prints is slightly different and a tiny bit imperfect, much like real relationships. Together, the subject and the technique create an image that feels personal and enduring, a quiet but powerful symbol of shared love and commitment.
It is also a reduction linoprint meaning it is a small edition. Reduction is a technique where a single block is progressively carved away and printed in multiple colours, usually from light to dark. Because more of the same block is cut away between each colour layer, the process is destructive, meaning the entire edition must be printed at once. This edition only has 4 left.
Materials used:
Oil based ink on archival paper
Details:
- Linocut on Paper
- From a limited edition of 23
- Size: 19 x 19cm (unframed) / 15 x 15cm (actual image size)
- Signed and numbered on the front
- Style: Expressive and gestural
- Subject: Animals and birds
